College GameDay heading to Tuscaloosa for Alabama-Tennessee hoops
For the first time ever, ESPN’s College GameDay will air live from Coleman Coliseum.
The weekly pregame show announced on Saturday that it will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for next week’s showdown between No. 13 Alabama and No. 5 Tennessee (Saturday, March 2). It will be the first time GameDay airs on the UA campus before a men’s basketball game.
During the 2-hour broadcast, College GameDay host Rece Davis will be joined by analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg, Andraya Carter, Jay Williams and reporter Christine Williamson.
Earlier this week, in an appearance on The Next Round, Davis hinted at a trip to Alabama.
“I would say that a trip to Tuscaloosa is something that’s certainly attractive and very high on the board at that point,” Davis said. “I can’t say, but I would just encourage people not to book their calendars too early on Saturday prior to the game and leave some room for perhaps a really nice event that might unfold there should certain things fall a certain way.”
They did, and GameDay will be at Alabama for the third time this academic year. During football season, ESPN’s crew was in Tuscaloosa for the home games against Texas and LSU.
The basketball crew chose the biggest home game of the year as the No. 5-ranked Volunteers come to town for the second regular-season matchup between the two rivals. Back on Jan. 20, Tennessee handed the Crimson Tide a 91-71 loss in Knoxville. Alabama will look to even things up in the series when it hosts the Vols for the first time since Dec. 29, 2021.

UA (19-7, 11-2 SEC) and UT (20-6, 10-3) currently sit atop the SEC standings, and Saturday’s game will go a long way in deciding the conference’s regular-season champion for 2024.
Before taking on Tennessee, Alabama will play back-to-back road games at Kentucky and Ole Miss. Meanwhile, the Vols play host to Texas A&M and Auburn before traveling to Tuscaloosa. Both teams have won three straight entering their respective matchups this week.
College GameDay is now in its 20th season, and the show begins at 11 a.m. CT on ABC. The Alabama-Tennessee game is set for a primetime tip-off at 7 p.m. and will air on ESPN.
