Date revealed for Alabama basketball's road game at Creighton
The Alabama men’s basketball team’s road trip to Creighton now has a date. The Crimson Tide will travel to Omaha, Neb., on Saturday, Dec. 16, to take on the Bluejays on their home court.
This game is the first of a home-and-home series between Alabama and Creighton, as reported by the Ohama World-Herald, with the Bluejays making a return trip to Tuscaloosa in 2024-25.
This season’s game will mark the third matchup between the Tide and Bluejays. The previous two occurred in the postseason, with Creighton winning both. Alabama lost to the Bluejays in the 2016 National Invitation Tournament and in the 2012 NCAA Tournament prior to that.
Creighton posted a 24-13 (14-3 Big East) record this past season and earned a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Playing on the same side of the bracket as the Crimson Tide in the South region, the Bluejays advanced to the Elite Eight before losing to No. 5-seed San Diego State by a score of 57-56. They posted a 4-4 record against Power 5 teams, which included wins over Texas Tech, Arkansas, NC State and Baylor – the last two coming in the postseason.

In addition to the trip to Omaha, the Crimson Tide is set to play Purdue in Toronto, face Arizona in Phoenix, host Clemson in the ACC/SEC Challenge, face Ohio State and then either Oregon or Santa Clara in the Emerald Coast Classic and play host to South Alabama, Indiana State and Mercer, making for yet another difficult non-conference schedule under coach Nate Oats.
“If you don’t play the best, I don’t think you can be the best,” said Oats after winning the SEC Tournament title. “… We won on the road at Houston. The Carolina win doesn’t look as good now. They were No. 1 in the country when we beat them. I thought we played pretty well up there. We beat Michigan State. At the time they were a little better. They’re still a really good program. We’re going to continue to schedule that way.
“I think it’s paid off every year we’ve been here.”
