Dates released for Tide basketball's SEC games, finalizing 2023-24 schedule

The Alabama men’s basketball team announced its complete schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season Thursday as the SEC announced its 18-game conference game slate.

The Crimson Tide opens league play on the road at Vanderbilt on Saturday, Jan. 6, before returning home for its first home SEC game against South Carolina on Tuesday, Jan. 9. UA will close conference play against Arkansas on Saturday, March 9, at Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama will have home-and-home matchups in-conference with Auburn (Jan. 24 in Tuscaloosa, Feb. 7 at Auburn), Florida (Feb. 21 in Tuscaloosa, March 5 at Florida), LSU (Jan. 27 in Tuscaloosa, Feb. 10 at LSU), Mississippi State (Jan. 13 at Mississippi State, Feb. 3 in Tuscaloosa), and Tennessee (Jan. 20 at Tennessee, March 2 in Tuscaloosa).

2023-24 SEC Schedule Highlights

  • A record-tying 10 SEC teams received postseason bids.
  • Eight SEC teams appeared in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, tying its previous best set in 2018
  • The SEC led the nation with three teams advancing to the Sweet 16 in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including the Tide
  • Four of Alabama’s five home-and-home opponents this season earned postseason bids last season, including three NCAA Tournament teams (Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee)
  • Over the last three seasons, the Tide has won a league-best 41 SEC games, six games ahead of No. 2 Tennessee (35)

In addition to SEC play, the Tide will also host Clemson, Morehead State, Indiana State, South Alabama, Mercer and Eastern Kentucky this season. UA will play Purdue in Toronto, face Arizona in Phoenix, travel to Omaha to take on Creighton, face Ohio State and either Oregon or Santa Clara in the Emerald Coast Classic and play Liberty in Birmingham.
