Hannah to Bama: Tide land coveted combo guard target
Alabama has landed a commitment from one of their top remaining targets in the 2025 cycle.
On Friday, the Crimson Tide added highly sought-after combo guard Davion Hannah to the class. The Glendale, Wisconsin, product committed to Bama over a top group of Cincinnati, Missouri, and Ohio State.
The Tigers were viewed as the top competition for Nate Oats‘ program over the past few weeks. Alabama and Missouri exchanged momentum in this recruitment from September until this point. But it was Bama who ultimately won out for the prized recruit out of Oats’ home state of Wisconsin.
A key reason why they came out on top was an unexpected unofficial visit that Hannah took last month. Hannah was set to be done with visits after taking officials to each of his finalists, but returned to Tuscaloosa for their Final Four banner reveal on Oct. 11.

That gave the staff much-needed momentum in Hannah’s recruitment, and was enough to push Bama over the top for the elite guard.
“I chose Alabama because of their history of not only developing and producing people but winning as well,” Hannah told On3’s Joe Tipton of his decision. “I love to win and I love to compete and I will be able to do both of them playing for Alabama and Coach Nate Oats.”
Who is Alabama getting in Hannah?
Well, he checks in as the No. 32 overall player in this recruiting cycle, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He’s also tabbed as the second-ranked combo guard, behind five-star Brayden Burries. Hannah plays for Link Academy, and is thus listed as the No. 2 player in the state of Missouri.
His commitment should solidify Oats with yet another top-10 class, with several more targets remaining.

Oats has been talked about a good amount on the recruiting front, and rightfully so. His system, focus on development for the next level, and confidence he instills in his players is appealing to those considering the program. That goes for prep prospects and those in the transfer portal, with Alabama seeing an abundance of success while recruiting at both levels.
But Preston Murphy deserves a fair amount of credit in the recruitment of Hannah as well.
Murphy has been exceptional on the recruiting trail since arriving on Alabama’s staff last year. He’s been attached to nearly every single major recruitment for Bama following his hiring, including that of No. 1 overall prospect AJ Dybantsa. He built a strong relationship with Hannah, who received an offer from the Tide back in May.
“Coach Murphy actually played a big role in my commitment,” Hannah told Tipton. “I spoke with him a lot and he also stayed in contact with my family as well. Coach Murphy is a very funny, competitive guy and a lot of our conversation was just about getting to know each other more and really connecting.”
Joining Hannah in this class are London Jemison (Top 40 overall recruit) and Amari Allen (Top 75 overall recruit). Allen, who recruited Hannah to Alabama, also hails from Wisconsin. Allen and Jemison informed BOL that they’ve already signed with the program, and Hannah is expected to do the same as well during the early signing period.
