Decision Day: Coveted 2024 WR Amari Jefferson
Commitment day has arrived for four-star wide receiver Amari Jefferson.
Jefferson, a product of Baylor School in Chattanooga (Tenn.), will announce his anticipated decision on Saturday afternoon. He’s down to a final three of Alabama, Georgia, and the in-state Tennessee Volunteers. Jefferson is a dual-sport athlete, and will also play baseball at the next level.

Amari Jefferson has felt prioritized by Alabama’s staff
For the past two-plus years, Jefferson has been committed to the Tennessee Volunteers baseball program. Jefferson had torn his MCL in his freshman season of football, leading to some uncertainty regarding his future on the gridiron.
Sure enough, Jefferson bounced back with a good sophomore year and a dominant junior season. Georgia and Tennessee offered him the summer before his 2022 season. Alabama dipped into Jefferson’s recruitment this past March.

Jefferson, who will be making a “football decision” today, has visited Tuscaloosa a total of four times this year. He attended their March 4 junior day and returned on April 15, took an official visit in June, and recently returned for Saturday’s Champions Cook-Out.
“Just my connection with the staff,” Jefferson recently told BOL of why Alabama is a contender. “Every time I go down there, it feels like home. It feels like a family. Just the way the program is built, it’s a winning culture. Also, the way Coach Saban develops receivers.”
Joe Cox and position coach Holmon Wiggins have led the way in Alabama’s pursuit of Jefferson.

“Really, just the same stuff: They need me and they want me,” Jefferson said of the staff’s message on his visit. “I would be a big get in the class and they would be really excited to get me.”
The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine views Jefferson’s recruitment as a close race down the homestretch. Bama is given a 44.9 percent chance of landing him, while Tennessee has a 32.4 percent chance.

Whoever lands Jefferson on Saturday is getting a highly productive wideout. Last season, Jefferson hauled in 72 catches for 1,370 yards, an average of 19 yards per reception. He also recorded 17 receiving touchdowns during his junior campaign.
The 2024 On300 tabs Jefferson as the No. 103 overall player in this class, the No. 19 wide receiver, and the second-ranked player in Tennessee.
