Decision Day: Will Alabama land elite in-state EDGE?
The Alabama Crimson Tide are off to a hot start when it comes to in-state recruiting in the 2025 class. Nick Saban‘s program already holds commitments from four products of Alabama: Anthony Rogers, Antonio Coleman, Myles Johnson, and Ryan Williams.
Bama is looking to add another in-state prospect to this class in Troy (Ala.) EDGE Zion Grady. On Sunday, Grady will announce his college commitment, with the Tide being one of his finalists. Grady chose this day to honor his late father, whose birthday is Nov. 12.
BamaOnLine previews Grady’s upcoming decision and where things stand in his recruitment.

Where do things stand between Alabama and Grady?
Zion Grady has been a familiar face on Alabama’s campus in 2023.
The No. 3 EDGE in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings has visited the Capstone on five separate occasions this year. Grady visited a couple of times in the spring before returning for a summer trip. He has also attended Bama’s home games versus Texas and most recently Tennessee.
Grady, who is originally from Georgia, detailed the main reasons why Alabama is a contender following last month’s visit.
“I would say the way they’re so engaged. They always make sure you’re good and things like that,” Grady previously told BamaOnLine. “They develop EDGE players very well, so that is a big part.”
Throughout the year, Grady has formed a good relationship with linebackers coaches Coleman Hutzler and Robert Bala. He’s spoken fondly of both coaches in the past, saying that Hutzler is an intense and high-energy coach.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder has also talked about the possibility of playing under Nick Saban at the next level.

“It would mean a lot because he’s very legendary,” Grady said. “I feel like as a person, he’s going to be honest with you. He’s not going to cut any corners around it.”
At this time, Alabama has a major lead for Grady on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Per the RPM, the Tide have a 95.8 percent chance at landing Grady. A trio of predictions from On3 experts have been made in favor of Bama to earn Grady’s commitment.
If Saban and Co. land Grady on Sunday, then they’d be adding to what is already the No. 1 class in the 2025 cycle. Along with the in-state prospects mentioned above, Alabama holds commitments from five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench and Georgia-based offensive linemen Dontrell Glover and Mason Short. Their class score (96.006) and average commit rating (93.09) are the highest in the 2025 cycle.
Whoever lands Grady today will be adding one of the more productive pass rushers in the country. Grady leads his team in total tackles with 70 this season, and has 21 tackles for loss. He’s also recorded nine total sacks and has one interception as well.
He is tabbed as the No. 35 overall junior in the country, the No. 3 EDGE, and the fifth-ranked 2025 recruit in Alabama.
