Julian Sayin is in possession of 20-plus offers both near and far from his home state of California. In the end, Sayin is opting to leave the West Coast altogether in favor of playing in the SEC at the next level.

He told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons this week that the factors he’s prioritizing the most are track record, comfortability with the coaches, atmosphere and a fan base’s passion. With a few hours to go until Sayin’s decision, it appears that one school is separating itself from the pack.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives Alabama a 74.2 percent chance of landing Sayin. Five expert predictions are submitted in favor of the Tide, including one from On3 LSU writer Shea Dixon. That number is also fueled by three trips that Sayin has taken to Tuscaloosa since the summer of 2021.

So, why is Bama in a position to land yet another elite quarterback out of California? Sayin explained his high interest in the Tide while previewing his decision with Simmons this week.

“The track record with quarterbacks speaks for itself and then (head coach NickSaban, he’s obviously the GOAT,” Sayin told Simmons. “He’s going to hold you to the highest standards and that’s something I’m looking for. With (offensive coordinator BillO’Brien and his NFL background, that’s something I want to be a part of.”

Speaking of O’Brien, Bama’s offensive coordinator has stressed to Sayin the production that Alabama continues to have at his position every year.

“He was just saying that there’s no better place to play quarterback,” Sayin said following last month’s visit to T-Town. “Their past three quarterbacks have been first-round draft picks. Bryce [Young] coming up will be a first-round draft pick, too. It’s a very quarterback-friendly offense and definitely somewhere you want to play at.”

Assuming Bama adds Sayin to the fold, the program will hold a commitment from one of the top players in his class. The 2024 On3 Consensus tabs Sayin as the No. 14 overall recruit in the country, the No. 2 quarterback, and the top-ranked junior out of California.

If he commits to Alabama, then Sayin would join what is currently the fourth-ranked class in the nation. Stay tuned to see if the Tide can earn commitment No. 4 in their 2024 class later today.
