Deontae Lawson update: Alabama LB ruled out for rest of Oklahoma game
NORMAN, Okla. – Alabama inside linebacker Deontae Lawson left the Oklahoma game in the second quarter and gingerly walked to the visiting locker room before the first half expired.
Lawson is out with a lower-extremity injury, according to a UA spokesperson.
Lawson was slow to get up after making a tackle for no gain in the second quarter. He needed help off the field from members of Alabama’s training staff. The redshirt junior spent time in the sideline medical tent before heading to the locker room with 5:51 left in the first half.

Lawson is the Crimson Tide’s defensive signal-caller and wears the green-dot helmet, which means he can hear from defensive coordinator Kane Wommack until the play clock gets below 15 seconds. With Lawson out, Justin Jefferson is now wearing the green-dot helmet.
Alabama entered the game with only three players on its availability report — safety Keon Sabb, wide receiver Cole Adams and linebacker Que Robinson. Already thin at the Wolf ’backer position, the Tide will now try to slow down the Sooners without its signal-caller.
