Derrion Reid named to 2024 USA Men's Basketball U18 National Team
Alabama men’s basketball incoming freshman Derrion Reid was named to the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team, the USA Men’s Junior National Team Committee announced. After four days of training camp in Colorado Springs, Reid was one of 12 players selected to represent the United States in the 2024 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup from June 3-9 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Reid becomes the second Alabama player to be named to the U.S. U18 National Team, joining JaMychal Green who was on the 2008 team. Reid is also the first player to represent the United States since Kira Lewis Jr. was part of the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup Team.

Reid, a 6-8 forward from Grovetown, Ga., is a 2024 McDonald’s High School All-American and is ranked as the No. 11 overall recruit by ESPN, the fourth-highest rated recruit in program history behind Collin Sexton, Brandon Miller and JD Davison.
USA Basketball will open Group B play with Argentina, Belize and Brazil at the 2024 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup. The U.S. men will take on Argentina in their opening game on June 3 at 6:10 p.m. CT. On June 4, the USA squad will face Belize, who are set to compete at the event for the first time and Group B play closes with Brazil on June 5. Both the Belize and Brazil games will tip off at 3:40 p.m.
