Derrion Reid update: Alabama freshman to miss fourth straight game
Alabama issued its final availability report before its home game against LSU.
Senior guards Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Achilles) and Houston Mallette (knees) were both listed as out and will not play against the Tigers. Alabama true freshman forward Derrion Reid, listed as questionable on yesterday’s initial report, is also out due to a lower-body injury.
Alabama head coach Nate Oats offered an update on Reid on Friday afternoon.
“He’s still not full-go in practice,” Oats said. “It’s one of those deals where we thought he’d be back a little quicker, but as the injury goes on, we’re not gonna push it to where he’s not out. So I don’t know.
“We play at night tomorrow, so I think he’ll get a workout in tomorrow morning to see how he feels. But he’s not a for-sure, he’s not in. I think he’ll probably be listed as questionable, would be my guess, tonight.”
With Reid, Mallette and Wrightsell out – and Naas Cunningham redshirting this year – Alabama will be down to nine available scholarship players for its home game against LSU.
The No. 4-ranked Crimson Tide (16-3, 5-1 SEC) and Tigesr (12-6, 1-4) are scheduled to square off at Coleman Coliseum. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

SEC Availability Report Policies
Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to an SEC basketball game, an institution must issue the Initial Report the night before a game by 7 p.m. CT (or, for an institution that played a game the day before, by 11:00 am local time the day of the game, or two hours before the game starts, whichever is earlier).
On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time. On the Game Day Update, the only permissible designation statuses are:
• Available – Will dress for the game and be available to play
• Game Time Decision – Coaches and/or medical personnel need to evaluate the athlete in pre-game warmups before deciding whether he can participate in the game
• Out – Not dressing or available for the game
