Derrion Reid update: Final availability report reveals freshman's status vs. Ole Miss
Alabama issued its final availability report before its home game against Ole Miss.
As expected, senior guards Latrell Wrightsell Jr. (Achilles) and Houston Mallette (knees) were both listed as out and will not play against the Rebels. Freshman forward Derrion Reid, listed as questionable on yesterday’s initial report, is also out with a lower-body injury.
Reid has played in 15 of Alabama’s 16 games this season, missing only the South Dakota State contest due to an ankle injury. The true freshman has been in the starting lineup three times this year, including the first two games of the Crimson Tide’s 2024-25 season, and is averaging 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field.
With Reid, Mallette and Wrightsell out – and Naas Cunningham redshirting this year – Alabama will be down to nine scholarship players for its top-25 matchup against Ole Miss.
Ole Miss will also be without senior forward Mikeal Brown-Jones in Tuscaloosa.
The No. 4-ranked Crimson Tide (14-2, 3-0 SEC) and No. 21 Rebels (14-2, 3-0) are scheduled to square off at Coleman Coliseum. The SEC matchup will tip off at 6 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

SEC Availability Report Policies
Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to an SEC basketball game, an institution must issue the Initial Report the night before a game by 7 p.m. CT (or, for an institution that played a game the day before, by 11:00 am local time the day of the game, or two hours before the game starts, whichever is earlier).
On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time. On the Game Day Update, the only permissible designation statuses are:
• Available – Will dress for the game and be available to play
• Game Time Decision – Coaches and/or medical personnel need to evaluate the athlete in pre-game warmups before deciding whether he can participate in the game
• Out – Not dressing or available for the game
