TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Nate Oats provided an injury update on freshman forward Derrion Reid on Friday, ahead of the Crimson Tide’s road game at Kentucky.

Reid did not dress out for Alabama’s recent home loss against Ole Miss on Tuesday night.

“He’s still recovering,” Oats told local reporters. “He didn’t go full 5-on-5 today. So he’s questionable for tomorrow. We’ll see. If he’s not able to go tomorrow, hopefully next week. I think from everything Clarke’s telling me, he’s coming along.

“I just don’t know how quickly, if it’ll be tomorrow yet or not.”

Reid is dealing with a lower-body injury.

Reid has played in 15 of Alabama’s 17 games this season, missing only the South Dakota State and Ole Miss contests. The true freshman has been in the starting lineup three times this year, including the first two games of the Crimson Tide’s 2024-25 season, and is averaging 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field.

Alabama (14-3, 3-1 SEC) is already without guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr., who suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in November. Senior guard Houston Mallette has also missed time due to lingering knee issues. UA could seek medical redshirts for both players.

Alabama will travel to Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, January 18, for a top-10 matchup with the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats. The conference game will tip off at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
