TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — In his Tuesday press conference ahead of No. 4 Alabama’s game against No. 14 Mississippi State on Wednesday, Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats provided an update on injured forward Derrion Reid.

“Derrion Reid’s been going more and more,” Oats said. “He’s probably questionable until game day, but he did more in practice today than he’s done up to this point. I’m not the trainer and I don’t make these decisions, but he looked pretty good to me. If he does get the clearance finally to go, we’ll have 10 healthy, available players for us.”

Reid has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, and has missed a total of five games since late December. It was originally thought by Oats that the freshman would be back against LSU this past Saturday, but he proved to not yet be ready to take the floor.

This season, Reid has been a major contributor for this Alabama team, starting the first two games and coming off the bench ever since. The former McDonald’s All-American is averaging 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds, and was coming off an 11-point game in 15 minutes against Texas A&M before his injury.

Alabama has already been dealing with multiple injuries this season, with guard Latrell Wrightsell out for the season with a torn Achilles and guard Houston Mallette having no timetable for return from his knee issues.

Alabama’s game against Mississippi State will tip off at 8 p.m. CT on SEC Network from Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville.
