Alabama came out on top of a must-win matchup with LSU on Saturday in Baton Rouge, and the Crimson Tide’s postseason hopes remain intact while the Tigers will need some help.

Alabama defeated LSU, 42-13, to add another ranked win to its resume and can now earn a College Football Playoff berth should it win the rest of its games. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Tide a 55 percent chance to win out with three games left on the schedule.

Remaining for Alabama is a home game against Mercer, a road trip to Oklahoma and a home game against in-state rival Auburn. ESPN’s Playoff Predictor gives the Tide a 79 percent chance to win in Norman in two weeks as well as a 90 percent chance to win the Iron Bowl.

ESPN gives Alabama a 75.6 percent chance to reach the College Football Playoff, which are the sixth-best odds in the nation behind Oregon (95.3), Indiana (92.8), Ohio State (92.2), Texas (82.0) and Penn State (80.9). The Tide’s odds of making the national championship game are currently 25.1 percent, while its odds of winning it all are set at 15.5 percent.

Handle business and make the playoff, right? It seemed that simple just a few weeks ago, but Alabama is now firmly in the mix to win the SEC Championship Game. There are eight teams in the league with one or two losses with three regular-season games to go, making a multi-team tie a realistic scenario with tiebreakers that could hinge on Arkansas-Missouri.

A win in Atlanta means a first-round bye, but does a loss result in being left out of the 12-team field? There is still plenty of football to be played prior to that image becoming clearer.

For now, ESPN’s FPI gives Alabama a 31 percent chance to win its conference. The only SEC team with better odds after Week 11’s slate of games is 8-1 (5-1) Texas at 37-8 percent.

After the convincing win over LSU, most have Alabama in their playoff predictions on Sunday morning. On3’s Andy Staples ranks the Tide at No. 7 and playing host to Indiana in Tuscaloosa in the first round of the playoffs. CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has Alabama winning the SEC and being the No. 3 seed, getting a first-round bye in the first 12-team playoff.

Coming off a strong showing from both the defense and quarterback Jalen Milroe, Alabama will look to keep rolling when it plays host to FCS foe Mercer on Saturday, Nov. 16 (1 p.m.).
