Terrion Arnold recaps win at Kentucky | Alabama Football

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Nick Saban used actual rat traps in an attempt to send a message prior to the game at Kentucky. His wife, Terry, took a different approach.

“She always sends me a text on Sunday just about motivating the guys and staying focused, said Alabama defensive back Terrion Arnold following the 49-21 win over the Wildcats. “I’ll share a secret with y’all, I feel like she’s that little secret that we’ve got.

“Everybody needs a Miss Terry, man. Everybody needs a Miss Terry.”

Arnold and Miss Terry, as she’s well-known, share a special bond. That was on full display after the Crimson Tide defeated Texas A&M, 26-20, in College Station, Texas, when Arnold saw her on his way back to the visiting locker room and hugged her following the road win.

Five weeks later, the third-year defensive back described his connection with Miss Terry.

“I would say she’s almost like a second mom,” Arnold said on Saturday. “When I came here, it wasn’t fake, and it hasn’t been fake since I’ve been here. She really cares about all of us, and she does a really, really good job of displaying it. Honestly, Coach Saban and her, they’re the type of people that would give you the shirt off their backs.”

Arnold continued, “People don’t really get a chance to have a close relationship with him because they think, ‘Ah, man. It’s Nick Saban.’ Us on the other hand, like us in the secondary, that’s our Coach. Like ‘Coach me, Coach.’ And even the situation that happened in the Mississippi State game with him yelling is just a (testament) to why you come here.

“My relationship with Miss Terry, I would say, is second to none. I love her, and I think we’ll have that lifelong relationship.”

Saban was asked about Arnold’s relationship with his wife to kick off Chattanooga week.

“Her and Terrion are really kind of buddies,” Saban said on Monday. “I know she sort of texts with him and all that, and I kind of get on him. So it’s just like kind of raising your children. I’m the guy that’s always trying to get him to do right, and she’s the momma who’s always trying to make him happy (laughs). That’s the way it’s been for a long time.”

Arnold might receive Sunday motivational texts, but she provides advice to the whole team.

“She provides advice to everyone, you know what I mean?” said linebacker Chris Braswell. “Terrion might have a closer relationship with her than everybody else, but she’s great, though. She loves everybody just as well as Terrion.”
