February Bracketology: Where Alabama is projected in the 2025 NCAA Tournament
The first half of conference play has come and gone for Alabama, now in the midst of its midweek bye before resuming play Saturday on the road against Arkansas. The Crimson Tide has a 19-3 overall record with an 8-1 mark in SEC play, one loss behind undefeated Auburn, who leads the conference.

The Crimson Tide has a top-3 resume in college basketball alongside Auburn and Duke, and is rated high as the No. 2 overall seed according to many bracketologists, trailing only the consensus No. 1 in Auburn.
With a 1-seed comes the ability to be placed in favorable locations. The closest first weekend site to Alabama is Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, which would be the selection if Alabama ends up with a 1-seed. Another close site would be Raleigh, North Carolina, which could be an option if two teams end up seeded higher than Alabama and both want Lexington.
The second weekend sites for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight rounds have a incredibly favorable location in Atlanta, but current projections have Auburn slated to earn the South Region as the top overall seed. For Alabama to wind up in the South Region over Auburn and get Atlanta, it would need to finish higher than the Tigers, which could happen as the teams still have to play twice.
If Alabama doesn’t wind up with the South Region, the other three second weekend sites are Indianapolis (Midwest Region), Newark (East Region) and San Francisco (West Region). Right now, most projections have Alabama in the Midwest, since that would be its choice as the No. 2 overall seed, and if Duke was the No. 2 overall seed it would likely take the East, again leaving the Midwest for Alabama.
Overall, Alabama can’t ask for a much better position to be in entering the stretch run of the season. If the Tide can avoid suffering any surprising losses and keep stacking quality wins as it has all season, it has a great chance to find itself as a 1-seed for the second time in three seasons. At best, this team could find itself as the No. 1 overall seed if it can knock off Auburn and find a way to win the SEC regular season title.
