Five-Star Alabama commit reclassifies to Class of 2024
Alabama’s football program has made a key addition to their 2024 class, though not in traditional fashion.
On Monday, Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver commitment Ryan Williams announced his reclassification to the Class of 2024. Williams’ reclassification announcement comes days after another appearance in the 6A AHSAA Football Playoffs state title game.

What it means: Alabama WR commit Ryan Williams reclassifies
Williams teased this massive announcement on the first day of December. There was speculation by some that Auburn — where Williams’ father played football at — was in a position to flip him when he stated that big news was coming. In the end, Williams wound up reclassifying and sticking by his yearlong-plus commitment to the Crimson Tide.
Williams, who is currently the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2025 On300, committed to Bama back on Oct. 8, 2022. He has visited elsewhere since making that decision, but has maintained in numerous interviews over the past few months that he’s firm in his pledge to Alabama.
He attended the Iron Bowl a couple of weeks ago, and told BOL’s Andrew Bone shortly after its conclusion that he was cheering for Alabama during his visit to Auburn.
“It was kind of funny,” Williams previously told BOL. “I was excited every time we would do something good. Everyone would look at me like I was in the wrong for celebrating. I wasn’t over the top, but I was still cheering when we would have a good play. It was funny.
“It was still a good visit with them. It’s always a pretty good visit. It’s really because of the relationships the coaches have built through me and my dad. I am still 100-percent locked-in with Alabama though, Roll Tide!”
With Ryan Williams’ reclassification, the Tide have added to what was already a stellar collection of offensive talent in the 2024 class. Alabama holds commitments from Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Julian Sayin, as well as three of the top 15 interior offensive linemen in the country: Casey Poe, Joseph Ionata, and William Sanders.
Williams also now becomes a part of a very talented 2024 group of receivers that features Amari Jefferson (No. 16 WR in the On300) and four-star Rico Scott.

Before his reclassification, Williams checked in as the No. 3 overall recruit in the country, the No. 1 wide receiver, and the top-ranked junior in the state of Alabama. He is ranked no lower than No. 4 on all four major recruiting media services.
It still remains to be seen where exactly Williams will rank once he’s added to the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.

While the algorithm includes deal data, it does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals athletes have completed to date, nor does it set an athlete’s NIL valuation for their entire career.
Ryan Williams’ On3 Scouting Report highlights his speed, production
“A legitimate state title contender in four track events – the 100, 200, 400 meters and high jump. Shows the ability to harness his elite speed on the football field. A big-time deep threat who easily runs past defensive backs. Has high-end change of direction and breaks off cornerbacks with agility within his routes. Caught 88 passes for 1,641 yards and 24 touchdowns, ran for 700 yards and 15 touchdowns on 57 rushes (12.3 yards per carry), returned two punts for touchdowns and passed for a score while leading his high school to a state title as a sophomore.
“Was named Alabama’s Gatorade Player of the Year following the historic season. Was the On3 MVP at Under Armour’s Atlanta camp prior to his junior season. Looks like one of the top pass-catchers in high school football regardless of class and is the top wide receiver prospect from Alabama since Henry Ruggs III. Will need to continue adding strength and mass to his slender frame.”
