It’s a new week for the University of Alabama, and there is a lot happening in the recruiting world. It’s constantly flowing with fresh information, and a few visitors on campus this past weekend. One of the players is expected to announce a decision within the next few days.

The portal discussion will continue as Alabama is set to host at least one defensive target this weekend. A few other targets have trimmed their list of choices with Alabama making a top three, and top four in the last few days. One is possibly on the verge of a decision.

The Crimson Tide staff was also busy on the recruiting trail last week visiting recruits in each area of the country. Several new offers were extended, and much of the same is expected this week. It’s the spring evaluation period!

BOL takes a look at some of the biggest storylines to track this week.

Arizona State transfer Edward Woods took an official visit to Alabama this past weekend. The two-year starter at cornerback for the Sun Devils received an offer from Alabama during the visit. He considered cancelling a pre-planned visit to Michigan State on Sunday/Monday, but kept the visit. Woods is expected to reveal a decision within the next few days. Woods told BOL, “Alabama blew me away this weekend. I love the city, and the weather was great.” More on the portal target- HERE

UPDATED SUMMER OFFICIAL VISITOR LIST

Wolf target to decide soon?

Dawson Merritt, Top 100 LB from Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas, is possibly closing-in on a decision after taking visits to Alabama (unofficial) and Nebraska (official) the past two weekends. Merritt moved his visit with the Cornhuskers which was originally in June. His visit to Alabama the previous week may have pushed the commitment time-frame (previously set for after OVs). Merritt’s father David tweeted on Thursday night, “3 Schools remaining! (Oklahoma, Alabama, & Nebraska). I feel in my spirit Dawson is getting close to a decision. Lord, guide him.” In-depth interview with BOL- HERE

On the road again

Another busy week ahead for the Alabama coaching staff as coaches will hit the recruiting trail for further spring evaluations. The Crimson Tide extended several offers last week including a few in the ’24 class. The majority of offers, however, remain contingent on summer camp performance. The most notable offer was to Keelon Russell– who has also set an official visit to Alabama on 5/31.

Expect more offers this week, while also seeing several targets who have set summer official visits including Travis Smith Jr., Top 100 WR from Westlake High School in Atlanta, who expects to see Alabama Co-OC/WRs coach Jamarcus Shephard at his school this week. BOL will continue to update all the coaching stops for the Crimson Tide this week on the RoundTable!

Hoops Bonus:

The basketball news remains exciting with the Crimson Tide. Labaron Philon, a top five point guard in the ’24 class, announced his commitment on Sunday after being released from his NLI (Kansas) last week (Tim Watts and Travis Reier discuss the new addition). Former Rutgers center Clifford Omoryuri arrived in Tuscaloosa late Sunday evening for a visit. Another big man has also emerged.

Ugonna Onyenso, who recently entered the portal (Kentucky), has Alabama on his short list. The 7-foot center has received a prediction to Alabama from On3 Sports National Basketball Recruiting Experts, Joe Tipton and Jamie Shaw. More on the Tide’s pursuit- HERE
