Alabama Following the Future

All of Alabama’s football commitments taking the gridiron this week are set to participate in postseason play. Nearly two dozen future Crimson Tide players and their respective teams will start their playoff runs this week.

BamaOnLine provides a look at the upcoming playoff schedule on Thursday and Friday for Bama’s commits.

Five-Star Plus+ QB Julian SayinCarlsbad High School (Calif.): Carlsbad (10-0; 5-0 in league play) will host Granite Hills (10-0) on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. This is a part of the 2023 CIF San Diego Section Football Championships.

Sayin has completed 140 of 185 passes (75.7 percent) for 2,112 yards and 21 touchdowns to zero interceptions in nine games this season.

No. 1 ATH Jaylen Mbakwe, Clay-Chalkville High School (Ala.): The Cougars (9-0; 6-0 in region play) will have a home playoff game against Cullman (5-5) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 6A AHSAA Football Playoffs.

No. 1 TE Caleb Odom and ’26 OL Zykie HeltonCarrollton High School (Ga.): Carrollton (9-1; 4-0 in region play) has a home playoff game versus Harrison (7-3) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 7A GHSA Playoffs.

Odom has 34 catches for 551 yards (16.2 yards per reception) and eight touchdowns this season.

No. 1 Interior OL Casey PoeLindale High School (Texas): Lindale (6-4; 5-1 in district play) has a road playoff game at Vidor (6-4) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. This is a part of the 2023 4A D1 UIL Texas Football State Championships.

Top 100 DL Jeremiah Beaman, Birmingham (Ala.) Parker High School: Parker (9-1; 6-0 in region play) plays host to Mae Jemison (3-7) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 6A AHSAA Football Playoffs.

Beaman has 36 total tackles, five tackles for loss, and five sacks this season.

Top 100 S Peyton WoodyardBellflower (Calif.), St. John Bosco High School: The Braves (9-1; 5-0 in league play) will have a home game against San Clemente (9-1) in the 2023 Division 1 CIF Southern Section Football Playoff quarterfinals. That game will take place on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Top 100 CB Zabien Brown, Santa Ana (Calif.), Mater Dei High School: Mater Dei (9-1; 4-1 in league play) will host JSerra Catholic (5-5) in the 2023 Division 1 CIF Southern Section Football Playoff quarterfinals. That will also be on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Four-star LB Sterling Dixon, Spanish Fort (Ala.) High School: Spanish Fort (8-2; 7-1 in region play) will have a home game against Bessemer City (5-5) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 6A AHSAA Football Playoffs.

Dixon has 118 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, an interception and 12.5 sacks this season.

Four-star WR Rico Scott, Harrisburg (Pa.), Bishop McDevitt High School: The Crusaders (10-0; 7-0 in conference play) hosts Milton Hershey (6-5) on Friday. Bishop McDevitt defeated Milton Hershey 55-14 back on Sept. 29.

Scott has 58 catches for 949 yards (16.4 yards per catch) and 17 touchdowns this season.

Four-star WR Amari Jefferson, Chattanooga (Tenn.), Baylor High School: Baylor School (8-2 overall; 4-1 in district play) has a home playoff game versus Christian Brothers (6-4) on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Jefferson has 53 receptions for 877 yards (16.6 yards per catch) and 12 touchdowns this season.

Four-star LB Cayden Jones, Arden (N.C.) Christ School: Christ School (4-6; 2-1 in conference play) has a neutral site playoff game with Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (12-0) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. This is the semifinals of the 2023 NCISAA 11-Man Football Playoffs.

Four-star interior OL Joseph Ionata, Clearwater (Fla.), Calvary Christian Academy: Calvary Christian (8-2; 3-0 in district play) has a home game against Lakewood (2-8) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 2M FHSAA Football State Championships.

Four-star DB Jameer Grimsley, Tampa (Fla.), Catholic: Tampa Catholic High School (4-5; 1-1 in district play) has a road playoff game at Robinson HS (8-2) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 2M FHSAA Football State Championships.

ICYMI: Alabama continues to feel like home for ’24 DB commitment (On3+)

Grimsley previously told BOL that he is hoping to make it back on the gridiron for this matchup after missing the entire regular season with a foot injury.

DB Red Morgan and DL Isaia Faga, Phenix City (Ala.) Central High School: The Red Devils (9-0; 8-0 in region play) hosts Davidson (5-5) in the first round of the 2023 7A AHSAA Football Playoffs. That game will be on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Three-star S Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., Gadsden (Ala.) City High School: Gadsden City (7-3; 5-0 in region play) hosts Gardendale (3-7) on Friday in the first round of the 2023 6A AHSAA Football Playoffs. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Three-star TE Jay Lindsey, Butler (Ala.) Patrician Academy: The Saints (8-3; 3-1 in region play) have a neutral site game with Chambers Academy (10-1) on Thursday night. This is the second round of the 2023 2A AISA Football Playoffs.

Three-star LB Quinton Reese, Birmingham (Ala.) Ramsay High School: Ramsay (8-2; 7-0 in region play) plays host to West Point (5-5) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 5A AHSAA Football Playoffs.

2025 Alabama Commitments

2025 DL Antonio Coleman and Five-Star Plus+ WR Ryan Williams, Saraland High School in Alabama: Saraland (10-0; 8-0 in region play) plays host to McAdory (6-4) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. This is their first game of the 2023 6A AHSAA Football Playoffs.

2025 Five-Star WR Jaime Ffrench, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin High School: Mandarin (7-3; 2-0 in district play) travels to Winter Park (9-0) for a Friday night game, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 4M FHSAA Football State Championships.

2025 Four-Star OL Dontrell Glover, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes: Langston Hughes (8-2; 6-1 in region play) has a home game against North Forsyth (5-5) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. This is the first round of the 2023 6A GHSA Football Playoffs.

2025 Four-Star OL Mason Short, Evans High School in Georgia: Evans (4-6; 3-3 in region play) travels to Woodward Academy (8-2) on Friday night. This is also the first round of the 2023 6A GHSA Football Playoffs.

Alabama commitments not in action: OL William Sanders, LB Justin Okoronkwo, and punter Anderson Green (Preferred Walk-On) have all finished their seasons. ’25 LB Myles Johnson is recovering from a torn ACL. 2025 RB Anthony Rogers and his IMG teammates are on a bye this week.
