High school football has finally arrived.

This upcoming weekend, several Alabama commitments will take the field in meaningful competitive games for the first time this year. That group includes five-star cornerback commitment Dijon Lee. Next week, most of Bama’s pledges in the 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes will begin their seasons.

BamaOnLine takes a look at the upcoming matchups for the Tide’s pledges and when they will be played.

Trio of Bama commitments to begin 2024 seasons, including one on ESPN

Five-Star CB Dijon Lee, Mission Viejo (Calif.) High School: The Diablos will begin their season in Hawaii with a game against Kamehameha Kapalama. That matchup is scheduled to be played on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. local/9:00 p.m. Central Time.

5-star DB commit has grown on and off the field heading into his senior season

Lee’s 2023 season stats: 55 tackles, 22 solo, 2 interceptions, 13 pass breakups, and 5 touchdowns.

Four-star LB Luke Metz, Dacula (Ga.) Mill Creek High School: Like his future teammate listed above, Metz won’t be starting off the season at home this week. Mill Creek is slated to face off against Lambert HS on the road on Friday. That game’s kickoff time is 6:30 p.m. Central.

2023 season stats: 61 tackles (leading returning tackler), 5 sacks, 18 quarterback hurries, 1 interception, and a defensive touchdown.

Four-star CB Dorian Barney (2026), Carrollton (Ga.) High School: Alabama’s lone Class of 2026 commitment will be strapping up the pads for a new team this season. Earlier this summer, Barney announced his transfer from Peachtree Ridge to Carrollton. The Trojans will face off against Woodward Academy on the road on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Central.

This game is one of six high school football matchups that will be on ESPN between Aug. 16-25. The other games are Grayson at Thompson (Aug. 22), Milton at American Heritage (Aug. 23), Bishop Gorman at St. Thomas Aquinas (Aug. 24), St. John Bosco at Chaminade-Madonna (Aug. 24), and Rabun Gap-Nacooche School at Baylor School (Aug. 25).

Barney’s 2023 season stats: 32 total tackles, 4 interceptions, 10 pass breakups, 2 tackles for loss.

Quick Notes: Four-Star LB Jaedon Harmon and his teammates won’t be starting the season against Creekside High School, as previously scheduled. Due to the recent team bus crash — where there were no serious injuries — additional safety precautions are being taken; as such, they’ll begin their season at a later date.

Three-star DL London Simmons and his teammates took part in a Week 0 game against Heritage Academy this week. They won that matchup 42-0.
