Although the draft did not turn out the way he expected it to, former Alabama defensive back Josh Jobe will get a shot at the next level. Jobe, who was not drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, is expected to sign an undrafted free agent deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, per On3 Senior National College Football Reporter Matt Zenitz.

At 24 years old, Jobe is an experienced player who hit the ground running as soon as he arrived in Tuscaloosa.

In his freshman season, Jobe played 14 games and missed just one contest (LSU) in the program’s 14-1 campaign. He wound up recording eight total tackles and one pass deflection in his first year in college.

Jobe, a native of Miami (Fla.), took his production to the next level as a sophomore. He finished the 2019 season with 28 total tackles in 12 games (two starts). Jobe also deflected three passes, recovered a fumble, and intercepted a pass.

The theme of Jobe filling up the stat sheet even more than he did the year before continued in his third season.

In the COVID year, Jobe tallied 55 total tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. The 6-foot-1, 194-pounder also recorded 11 pass deflections and a couple of forced fumbles.

Jobe’s junior season saw him earn honorable mention All-America recognition from Pro Football Focus, as well as the Thorpe Award’s Player of the Week for his performance versus LSU.

Instead of opting for the 2021 NFL Draft, Jobe returned to Alabama for his senior season. Unfortunately, however, Jobe’s season ended prematurely after suffering an injury in the SEC Championship.

Prior to his injury, Jobe had 38 total tackles (one for loss), four pass deflections, and a couple of interceptions.

Overall, Jobe finished his collegiate career with 129 total tackles, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and three picks.

Coming out of high school, Jobe was the No. 107 overall player in the country, per the 2018 On3 Consensus. He was also labeled the No. 16 cornerback and the top-ranked player in Connecticut.
