Four football players among 23 Alabama athletes graduating this summer

A total of 23 Crimson Tide student-athletes are slated to receive degrees during The University of Alabama’s summer commencement this weekend, including a two-time Olympian and All-American, along with six student-athletes who earned master’s degrees.

Two-time Olympic finalist and All-American Shallon Olsen (gymnastics) highlighted the list, alongside NCAA Champion and All-American Luisa Blanco (gymnastics) and SEC Male Brad Davis Community Service Leader of the Year and All-American Derek Maas (men’s swimming). Additionally, both Samantha Kunza and Cherisse Murray will walk across the stage after each earned All-America honors at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Faith Hensley, Ashley Prange and Ally Shipman from the softball team will all receive master’s degrees this summer as well as Olsen (gymnastics), Maas (men’s swimming) and Cherisse Murray (women’s track and field).

In addition, former football standout Dee Milliner, who was drafted in the first round by the New York Jets in 2013, completed his bachelor’s degree after playing three years in the NFL.

Combined with the 25 graduates who earned degrees following the fall semester and the 83 who earned degrees in the spring, 131 Alabama student-athletes took home diplomas during the 2022-23 academic year.
