Friday Availability Report: Alabama WR ruled out for Vanderbilt game

After being listed as questionable the last two days, Alabama wide receiver Kendrick Law was downgraded to out for the Crimson Tide’s updated availability report on Friday evening. He will miss Alabama’s first SEC road game of the 2024 season tomorrow at Vanderbilt.
In the second half of Alabama’s 41-34 win over Georgia, Law suffered a lower-body injury. He emerged from the Tide’s locker room at the start of the third quarter, walking gingerly to the home sideline without his helmet in hand, but did not return to the conference game.
Before his setback, Law touched the ball three times – one catch for 19 yards, one run for -1 yards and one kickoff return for 25 yards. It was his blocking, however, that earned praise from his coaches and was sorely missed late in the heavyweight fight with the Bulldogs.
“He’s still day-to-day right now, trying to work through it,” said Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer on Wednesday. “He’s trying to do everything he can to get out there. He was a really critical, I thought, piece that maybe didn’t show up in the stat column but a really critical piece to some success we’ve had against Wisconsin and last week against Georgia. He’s getting better and better every week.
“But from an injury standpoint, we’re still kind of seeing. I wouldn’t rule him out, and I wouldn’t say he’s a for-sure go right now.”
Top-ranked Alabama (4-0, 1-0 SEC) and Vanderbilt (2-2, 0-1) are scheduled for a 3:15 p.m. CT kickoff on Saturday, Oct. 5, in Nashville. The game will air live on the SEC Network.

SEC Availability Report Policies
Beginning with the 2024-25 athletics season, all Southeastern Conference schools will provide public reports on the availability of student-athletes to participate in each conference game in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball.
Prior to a Saturday football game, an institution must issue the Initial Report on Wednesday by 7 p.m. CT and update the Availability Report once per day on Thursday and Friday (after the conclusion of practice and before 7 p.m.). On game day, an institution must provide one Game Day Update no later than 90 minutes before game time.
Designated Participation Statuses
If an institution has knowledge that a student-athlete may not be able to participate in the upcoming game for any reason (including, but not limited to, injury, illness, suspension, ineligibility, or personal matter), the institution must accurately designate the student-athlete’s participation status on the Initial Report as follows:
– Out – Will not play / 0% chance to play
– Doubtful – Unlikely to play / 25% chance to play
– Questionable – Uncertain to play / 50% chance to play
– Probable – Probable to play / 75% chance to play
