In-state four-star ATH Ronnie Royal shares the latest on Alabama
Per the 2024 On3 Consensus, Ronnie Royal is one of the top junior prospects in the state of Alabama. The On3 Consensus tabs him as not only the No. 211 overall player in the nation, but also the No. 12 recruit in his state.
The Crimson Tide have had Royal on their radar, evidenced by the staff stopping by his school — Gulf Shores School in Alexandria (Ala.) — twice last month.

Royal spoke with BamaInsider at this month’s SUP7R 7-on-7 event in Naples (Fla.) about the latest with Alabama.
“It’s going pretty good,” Royal said of his contact with Bama. “They haven’t really mentioned an offer. They’ve said, ‘Hey, you look good. You play good. We like you,’ but they haven’t really said anything about an offer.”

At this time, Royal is not necessarily waiting on an offer from the Tide as he doesn’t want to limit his options. Royal, a 5-foot-11, 175-pounder who is listed as an athlete, would still entertain Alabama if he was offered.
“In the beginning, it’d mean a lot,” Royal said of an Alabama offer. “Everybody wants to go to Bama. Bama is a good school. In the beginning, when I first started getting good and getting recruited, I really wanted that offer.”
Ronnie Royal on Alabama: “It’s like a business there.”
Ronnie Royal has been on Alabama’s campus a handful of times, but currently has no plans to return to Tuscaloosa.
When reflecting on his prior trips to the school, Royal had the following to say about those experiences.

“Every time I’ve gone there, they’ve treated me right,” Royal said. “I liked it, personally. It felt like home. It’s close to home. I like the place. I like Alabama.”
Under Nick Saban, Bama has developed players for the next level on a yearly basis. At one point last season, 70 players on NFL rosters had come from Alabama.
Royal is impressed with how things are structured in Tuscaloosa and the standard that players are held to.
“I think it’s a good program. I think it’s a disciplined program,” Royal said. “Really like how they do everything. It’s like a business there. I really love it.”
Some of the schools catching Royal’s attention the most at this time are Florida State, Mississippi State, Missouri, N.C. State, South Carolina, and UCF. As for his spring visit plans, he’s hoping to make his way out to Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee after the February dead period.
Royal maintains that he is in no rush to make his college decision.
“Just letting it play out,” Royal said of his recruitment. “I’ve just been doing my thing. Not worrying about my recruitment; I’m just trying to make myself better as a player and person.”
