Is Alabama vulnerable? College GameDay's Lee Corso says yes
The Alabama football team has looked unstoppable at times this season. The first half against Miami in the season opener, and the first quarter against Florida immediately come to mind.
At other times, the Crimson Tide have looked beatable, especially in the second half against the Gators. Alabama narrowly escaped “The Swamp” with a 31-29 victory, but that now has some questioning its status as the top overall team.
Lee Corso, one of the most recognizable analysts on ESPN’s College GameDay, still believes Alabama is the nation’stop team. He also believes they’re vulnerable. He said as much on Saturday morning, both before and during the college football preview show.
“Was Florida that good or is Alabama vulnerable?” Corso responded when asked about Alabama by Kirk Herbsteit. “The second half, Alabama was not physical, and that’s what happened. Florida should have won that game. I’ll tell you what. Alabama is very vulnerable.”
Herbstreit disagreed, but Corso went on to make a prediction.
“One of the two weeks, Mississippi or Texas A&M,” Corso continued.
Herbstreit then chimed in, saying “Someone’s going to get them?” Corso’s throat cut gesture was all we needed to confirm the former college football coach’s thoughts.

On College GameDay, Corso doubled down on that statement, calling Alabama “beatable.” The question remains, is he correct? Are the Crimson Tide vulnerable right now?

One thing we learned from that game against Florida: there are some obvious question marks.
Alabama’s inability to maintain intensity and focus, something coach Nick Saban has brought up multiple times now, remains an issue. So are the defense’s struggles to tackle consistently. And penalties? Yeah, Alabama ranks No. 122 in the nation, averaging 9.3 penalties per game.
All of those things remain correctable, however. It’s not an issue such as a lack of talent or coaching. Those would be a different story.
Last week could do two things for Alabama: 1) expose weaknesses for other teams to exploit later on this season or 2) remind the team of Corso’s newly adopted belief, that Alabama isn’t unbeatable.
If it’s the latter, that could be exactly what the Crimson Tide needs to get right. If it’s the former, Corso’s prediction of a loss to either Ole Miss or Texas A&M could come to fruition.
It’s still way too early to call.
