Jimbo Fisher on relationship with Nick Saban: 'We're great'
Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher has backed off his criticism of Alabama coach Nick Saban. On the fourth and final day of SEC Media Days in Atlanta, Fisher was asked about the current standing of his relationship with his former boss. Fisher’s response didn’t create the same fireworks as the comments he made back in May.
In fact, Fisher brushed it off as the recent feud simply being “two competitive guys” going at it.
“Listen, we’re great,” Fisher said. “Two competitive guys that go at it. Listen, we all learn from things we do in our business. We got two competitive guys on a topic that is very ‘everywhere,’ as they say. There’s no rules in this thing and where it goes. Each state has a different law and everything…
“Unfortunately, our thing went public. Sometimes, that happens in this world. Nothing’s private anymore, is it?”
That’s a much different tone to the one Fisher took the morning after Saban’s criticisms of the way Texas A&M uses NIL. Some might also wonder why Fisher felt the feud going public was “unfortunate” considering he’s the one who called a public press conference to address it.
But hey, at least it’s finally settled.
Will Anderson on Jimbo Fisher’s comments
In case you’re wondering, Alabama outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr. did, in fact, hear the comments made about his head coach, Nick Saban, by Fisher back in May. You know, the ones where Fisher called Saban a “narcissist” who thinks he’s God.

Anderson hasn’t forgotten the comments either.
On Tuesday, the reigning Bronko Nagurski Award winner was asked about the recent feud while speaking at SEC Media Days. He didn’t use a lot of words when responding to the question, but he really didn’t need to. The response he provided was more than enough to know exactly where he — and Alabama — stand on the subject.
“I watched it. I saw. I don’t really get into social media stuff. When we play Texas A&M, everything will be addressed there,” said Anderson.
Now, that doesn’t sound like a guy who’s ready to move on.
Granted, Anderson certainly seems willing to set it aside in order to put his focus on the things more directly in front of Alabama, but it’s safe to assume those comments from Fisher will be a talking point in the week leading up to the showdown between the Crimson Tide and Texas A&M.
