Fall camp starts on Friday for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but 2021 safety signee Kadarius Calloway will not be with the team.

According to his social media, Calloway is now back in Mississippi and attending East Mississippi C.C. in Scooba.

The Philadelphia, Miss., native was on campus in Tuscaloosa and even received his jersey number — No. 29 — last month, so it’s not clear what went sideways at this point.

Alabama’s 2021 signing class was particularly stuffed with talent.

Calloway, the No. 193 player in the country according to the On300, is a two-way athlete but was coming in to play safety for the Tide.

The 6-foot, 210-pound safety committed to Mississippi State originally but decommitted in the summer before his senior season at Philadelphia High School. Alabama offered Calloway in April of 2020 and by June, he committed to the Tide.

Without enrolling early, the former four-star likely would’ve had a limited role in Nick Saban’s secondary in 2021.

The Tide have Jordan Battle, DeMarcco Hellams, Malachi Moore, Brian Branch, Daniel Wright, Kristian Story to hold things down. Summer enrollees Kaine Williams and Terrion Arnold will also help bolster the group.

Kadarius Calloway is, however, a major pickup for EMCC, which hasn’t won the NJCAA championship since 2018.
