Kalen DeBoer adds former Patriots WR coach to Alabama staff as analyst

Alabama has added former New England Patriots wide receivers coach Tyler Hughes as a football analyst, sources tell BamaOnLine. Hughes has already been added to the Crimson Tide’s online staff directory as one of 11 analysts on Alabama’s 2025 staff.
Hughes reunites with Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer after working as an analyst at Washington during the 2023 football season. Hughes will once again work with several familiar faces, having worked with DeBoer, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, quarterbacks coach Nick Sheridan and wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard in Seattle.
Hughes spent the 2024 season with the Patriots as first-year head coach Jerod Mayo’s wide receivers coach. However, he was not retained when New England made a coaching change. It was Hughes’ second stint with the Patriots after three years as an offensive assistant from 2020-22.
Getting his start at Snow College in Utah in 2004, Hughes was a quality control assistant at Ohio State in 2013. He also had head coaching experience, working at Division II Minot State University from 2014-16 and Bountiful (Utah) High School from 2018-19.
