Kalen DeBoer provides injury updates on Keon Sabb, Alabama DBs
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer kicked off Missouri game week by providing the latest injury updates on the Crimson Tide’s depleted defensive backfield.
Starting safety Keon Sabb is expected to miss some time, DeBoer told local reporters.
“Keon Sabb, he does have a lower-extremity injury,” DeBoer said. “We’re still gathering information here, but we do expect him to be down for a while. That could be an extended amount of time, and we’ll just continue to evaluate that.”
Sabb is Alabama’s fourth-leading tackler (39) and tied for the team lead in interceptions (2). The Michigan transfer also has four pass breakups through the first seven games of the fall.
Sabb, DeVonta Smith and Zabien Brown all started last week at Tennessee but did not finish the 24-17 road loss to the Vols. Brown and Smith only played 15 and four snaps against Tennessee, per Pro Football Focus, while Sabb logged 30. Sabb returned to the game after initially leaving but was unable to close out the Third Saturday in October rivalry game.

Red Morgan replaced Smith, but the freshman also suffered an injury. He only played six plays before King Mack replaced him at the Husky position. Bray Hubbard filled in at safety for Sabb, while UA used Domani Jackson, Jaylen Mbakwe and DaShawn Jones at corner.
On the other Alabama defensive backs – Brown, Smith and Morgan – DeBoer had a more positive update on their injuries and availability for this week’s game against Missouri.
“I know there’s a lot of I think one position group in particular, just kind of put them all together, all the other DBs, I think we’ll just look to see how they progress throughout the week,” DeBoer said. “A lot of similarities between just kind of the level of injuries that they have. Right now, I’d be expecting them all to be able to play on Saturday.
“So we’ll be ready to go.”
Alabama will play host to Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff (ABC).
