Kalen DeBoer fires up basketball crowd: 'The standard is Alabama'
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Despite his busy schedule and icy conditions in the Druid City, Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer made a brief appearance at Tuesday’s basketball game.
During the under-8 timeout, DeBoer and Crimson Tide director of athletics Greg Byrne walked onto the court at Coleman Coliseum, and Byrne and DeBoer addressed the crowd.

“It is so awesome to be here,” DeBoer said. “It’s happened really fast. We’ve got a lot of great news coming out, whether it’s recruiting, our staff. I can’t wait to ingrain myself in this community. What a special place, what a special place. The standard is Alabama. The standard is Alabama.
“Can’t wait to be here. Let’s keep supporting all the athletic teams. Roll Tide.”
Officially introduced as the 28th head football coach at Alabama on Saturday, DeBoer landed in Tuscaloosa on Friday night and immediately got to work, meeting with the current Crimson Tide team and working to put together a coaching staff. DeBoer is expected to add eight coaches to his first Tide staff, including coordinators Ryan Grubb and Kane Wommack.
