Kalen DeBoer updates Parker Brailsford's status for A-Day Game
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said on Thursday he wouldn’t plan on offensive lineman Parker Brailsford to play in the Crimson Tide’s spring game Saturday.
“Just with the limited practice that he’s had throughout the spring, and he didn’t practice today,” DeBoer said. “I wouldn’t be putting him out there in that spot. But he’ll be with us here sooner than later in the regular workouts. He’s doing all the things to make sure he’s ready to go.”
Brailsford missed Alabama’s previous two scrimmages and a number of practices because of “non-football related things,” the head coach said last weekend. DeBoer said a week ago that it wasn’t a situation where Brailsford did anything wrong and he wasn’t transferring.
The sophomore offensive lineman joined the Crimson Tide football program this semester after transferring from Washington. He followed DeBoer and the multiple UW assistant coaches to Tuscaloosa but saw offensive line coach Scott Huff stay in Seattle to coach the Seahawks with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Now, he will play under Chris Kapilovic.

Brailsford is a 6-foot-2, 275-pound lineman who earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors while also being named a Freshman All-American. He started in all 15 of Washington’s games last season and moved to center after spending the first two contests at right guard.
At Alabama, he will compete for the starting center spot with James Brockermeyer now that Seth McLaughlin is at Ohio State. But that competition was paused until the fall with Brailsford not taking part in spring drills. He still has the support of his new teammates.
“Parker, I love that guy,” said left guard Tyler Booker earlier this week. “That’s my brother. Just being able to be there for him at a time like this is very crucial. I told him whatever he needs, I’m there for him because he’s a brother now. He’s a part of this Alabama brotherhood. So gotta treat him as such.”
