Keon Sabb, Ryan Williams earn SEC Player of the Week honors

Alabama’s Keon Sabb and Ryan Williams each earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday morning.

Sabb was named the defensive player of the week while Williams was co-freshman of the week. The pair of honors are the first for both players and the first two for the Crimson Tide this season.

Keon Sabb

  • Got the start at safety and made an immediate impact in his Crimson Tide debut
  • Helped Alabama post a 63-0 shutout of Western Kentucky
  • Finished with two total tackles and a pair of interceptions against the Hilltoppers
  • Accumulated 87 return yards on his pair of picks

SEC Co-Freshman of the Week
Ryan Williams

  • Starred in his Crimson Tide debut, getting the start at wide receiver
  • Led all Alabama wideouts with 139 yards and two scores on only two catches
  • Found the end zone from 84 and 55 yards away while accumulating 78 yards after the catch

Alabama’s Players of the Week for Game 1

The Alabama coaching staff announced its players of the week on Sunday, and this season, it did things a little differently. In addition to rewarding “skill” and “power” players on offense and defense, the Crimson Tide also recognized scout-team players in all three phases.
