Latrell Wrightsell Jr. announces he will return to Alabama for 2024-25 season
The Alabama men’s basketball team received good news on Tuesday as senior guard Latrell Wrightsell announced he will return to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for a fifth and final season.
“Let’s run it back!!” Wrightsell said in a video he shared on social media.
Later in the afternoon, Alabama head coach Nate Oats shared his excitement.
In his first year with the Crimson Tide, Wrightsell appeared in 31 games and made 12 starts after transferring to Alabama from Cal State Fullerton. Wrightsell averaged 8.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field, 44.7 percent from 3-point range and 100 percent (27-of-27) from the free-throw line in 2023-24.
His season-high for points scored came against LSU on Feb. 10, where he scored 21 points and made six threes. Wrightsell scored in double figures 10 times during the 2023-24 campaign, and the Crimson Tide was undefeated in all 10 of those contests. The last double-digit scoring effort came on Senior Night against Arkansas, where he played 39 minutes.

Wrightsell missed six games this past season, including Alabama’s wins in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, due to head injuries. He was able to return for the Tide’s first-ever Final Four and logged six points on a pair of 3-pointers in 31 minutes in the loss to No. 1 UConn.
Wrightsell is the first senior to announce he will return to Alabama for the 2024-25 season. Nick Pringle has entered the NCAA transfer portal, while Mark Sears declared for the NBA draft while maintaining his college eligibility. Grant Nelson has yet to announce a decision.
