Latrell Wrightsell suffers head injury, ruled out vs. Grand Canyon
Alabama guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. suffered a head injury in the first half of the Crimson Tide’s second-round game with Grand Canyon and was ruled out, per a UA spokesperson.
Wrightsell started the NCAA Tournament game for No. 4-seed Alabama and scored two points in 11 minutes before suffering the injury. He sustained it while fouling a GCU player on a 3-point shot and stayed on the court for a while Tide trainers attended to him. He slowly made his way to his feet and went to the UA locker room before being ruled out of the game.
“Rylan is gonna have to play more minutes. Sam Walters is gonna have to play more minutes,” Alabama head coach Nate Oats told TBS at halftime. “Rylan’s been playing really well, and I thought Sam was good in his minutes. We’ve gotta get him some more minutes so we can get Mark and Aaron a little bit of a break.”

Mark Sears and Rylan Griffen lead UA with 13 points apiece at halftime with the Tide up on the Lopes, 38-30. Sears and Aaron Estrada each played 19 of the 20 first-half minutes.
This marks the second time Wrightsell has been sidelined by a head injury this season. The senior guard missed four SEC games late in the regular season because of a concussion.
Alabama (22-11) is already without guard Davin Cosby, who is out with a broken foot.
