Leading RB Jam Miller will return to Alabama for senior season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama’s top running back will be back for his senior season.
Jam Miller spoke to reporters after the Crimson Tide’s Thursday practice and announced that he will hold off on entering the NFL and return to Tuscaloosa for a fourth and final year.
“I’m staying another year,” Miller said. “I’m making that decision now. I’m not leaving this school at all.”
Miller was asked what about Alabama and its new regime made him want to stick around.
“I love this whole coaching staff, even the players here,” Miller said. “It’s just the bond that we’ve built with all the coaches, not only that but with the head coach also. It just feels like home for him.”
Miller has played in every game of his three-year career (39 games), including all 12 this year. The Tyler, Texas native is second on Alabama’s 2024 team in rushing with 641 yards and seven touchdowns on 135 carries (4.75 ypa) behind Jalen Milroe. He has also been a factor in the UA passing game with 13 catches for 119 yards and another score. An estimated 377 of his rushing yards have come after contact this fall, according to Pro Football Focus.

This season, Miller saw his role expand after being the third option in 2023. His carries tripled in Year 3 after running 41 times for 201 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore last year. For his career, Miller has rushed for 1,065 yards and 10 scores on 209 yards, and he still has one more game left with Alabama set to face Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31.
Miller will look to lead an Alabama running back room that welcomes back three other players from the Tide’s 2024 roster. While Justice Haynes elected to enter the transfer portal, Alabama is expected to welcome back Richard Young, Daniel Hill and Kevin Riley while adding the No. 2 tailback in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings, AK Dear.
“I’m ready,” Miller said of next season. “I’m ready for them, especially the young guys to come in. Me being a leader, an older guy, it’s gonna help me become a better leader by teaching them how to get better. By the time the (2025) season comes, we’ll be ready.”
