Mark Sears earns SEC Player of the Week after back-to-back 30-point games

Alabama men’s basketball guard Mark Sears has been named SEC Co-Player of the Week, along with Tennessee’s Chaz Lanier, the Southeastern Conference announced Monday. The honor comes after Sears scored 65 points in Alabama’s two contests against No. 15 Missouri and No. 17 Kentucky.

  • Named SEC Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career
  • Averaged 32.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 54 percent from the field and 42 percent from three in Alabama’s games against No. 15 Missouri and No. 17 Kentucky
  • Became the first player in Division I this season with back-to-back 30-point games, both against AP-ranked opponents and is the second player to do so in the last 20 years
  • Ranks first among active Division I players with 2,661 career points
  • Ranks second in the SEC in scoring (18.9 ppg) and assists (4.8 apg)
