Mark Sears named first team All-American by Associated Press

Alabama guard Mark Sears was named a first team All-American by the Associated Press on Monday morning.
Sears is averaging 18.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists during the 2024-25 campaign, helping lead the Crimson Tide to a 25-8 record and the 2-seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament. The native of Muscle Shoals currently ranks No. 4 on Alabama’s all-time program scoring list with 1,876 points in a Tide uniform.
Last year, Sears was named a second team All-American by the AP. He becomes the second Crimson Tide player to ever be named a first team All-American by the AP, joining Brandon Miller in 2023. Herb Jones was another player under Nate Oats to be named to an AP All-America team, being named to the third team in 2021.
The AP is one of four outlets used to select consensus teams, alongside the Sporting News, which Sears was named a first-team member of last week, as well as the National Association of Basketball Coaches and United States Basketball Writers Association.
