Oats evaluating Nick Pringle suspension on 'day-to-day' basis
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama forward Nick Pringle missed the Crimson Tide’s road game at Georgia due to a suspension, head coach Nate Oats said, who met with Pringle when Alabama returned to campus. After Friday’s practice, Oats provided an update on Pringle’s status.
“He’s still not with the team,” Oats said. “We’re evaluating it on a day-to-day basis. We’ll see how long it takes if he comes back at some point.”
This was the second time this season that Pringle has been suspended due to “conduct detrimental to the team.” He also served a 1-game suspension in December and missed the Arkansas State game before returning to the court for the matchup with Purdue. Similarly to the first instance, Oats said it was due to Pringle not upholding the program’s standard.
“He’s got to decide whether he wants to be part of this program or not with some of his decisions, how he conducts himself,” Oats said Wednesday. “Nothing bad off the court or anything like that. It’s just in practice, in games. We’ll see where he goes. We’ll meet when I get back.”

Pringle has played in 19 of the Crimson Tide’s 21 games and been in the starting lineup for 11 of those contests. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound senior is averaging 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 70.2 percent from the floor. Over the last two games, against LSU and now Georgia, forward Grant Nelson has been in the starting lineup at the five spot.
Also missing Wednesday’s game was guard Davin Cosby, who had the flu per the broadcast.
“Davin’s good,” Oats said. “He practiced today. He looked great. As a matter of fact, he looked bouncier than he’s been. His legs are a little fresh. He wasn’t hurt. He was ill. And he’s back. The doctors took care of it. So Davin’s good. He’ll be available tomorrow.”
Alabama will host Mississippi State on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
