Olaus Alinen, a priority 4-star OL target, commits to Alabama
Alabama’s coaching staff is still firing on all cylinders on the recruiting trail. Entering Friday, the program had landed five 2023 commitments this month, with another joining the fold moments ago.
Priority offensive lineman target Olaus Alinen just announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide. Alinen, a product of Windsor (Conn.) The Loomis Chaffee School, chose Nick Saban and Company over a final schools group that featured Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, and Oregon.
This was a tough battle to the very end for Alabama.
The Hurricanes made a strong push after getting him on campus for an official visit in early June. A few weeks later, Miami started to trend heavily for Alinen as there was confidence in Coral Gables that they’d be able to land him.
Alabama, however, stayed the course with Alinen. Once labeled as his leader back in November 2021, the Crimson Tide have been consistent in their pursuit of the Finland native, with their hard work paying off on Friday.
It’s clear to see why Alabama pushed hard for Alinen’s services for so long. Per the 2023 On3 Consensus, Alinen is the No. 120 overall player in his class. The On3 Consensus also tabs him as the No. 11 offensive tackle in the country and the top-ranked player in Connecticut.
Olaus Alinen joins an impressive Alabama class
It hasn’t been perfect all the way through, but Alabama has put together a strong 2023 class thus far.
Olaus Alinen joins an offensive line group that features Ryqueze McElderry and Wilkin Formby. Both are four-star prospects, with Formby being labeled as a top-100 overall rising senior in the nation.

The quarterbacks they’ll be blocking at the next level are Dylan Lonergan and Eli Holstein, each of them being top-10 players at their position. The skill position commits are elite running back Justice Haynes, as well as wide receivers Cole Adams and Malik Benson (the top junior college prospect in the country).
Switching over to defense, the group is led by a pair of five-star defensive back commits. Those are Jahlil Hurley and Tony Mitchell, both of whom are top-25 overall players in this class.
Alabama also has another JUCO product commitment in Justin Jefferson, who is a projected middle linebacker. In-state EDGE Yhonzae Pierre is also on board, with three-star safety Brayson Hubbard rounding out the group.
The Crimson Tide also just landed a pledge from kicker Conor Talty on Wednesday.
More good news could be in store for Alabama soon. Five-star safety Caleb Downs will announce his commitment on Wednesday, with Trussville (Al.) prospect Hunter Osborne potentially committing soon as well.
