On300 WR commits to Alabama over Georgia, Tennessee
Alabama has successfully dipped into enemy territory to land one of their top remaining targets in the 2024 class.
Amari Jefferson, the No. 19 wide receiver in the 2024 On300, announced his commitment to the Tide on Saturday afternoon. The Chattanooga (Tenn.) product committed to Bama over Georgia and the in-state Volunteers. He also flipped his baseball commitment from Tennessee to Alabama in the process.
On top of being a top-20 receiver in his class, Jefferson is the No. 103 overall player in the country and the second-ranked rising senior in Tennessee.

BREAKING POD: Four-star WR Amari Jefferson commits to Crimson Tide
Alabama’s pursuit of Jefferson officially began with an offer on March 4 during their third junior day of the year. Jefferson would later return on April 15, and made Bama the first school he officially visited during the second weekend of June. The Tide were able to seal the deal for Jefferson after getting him on campus for the Champions Cook-Out on July 29, a day after he visited Tennessee.
Area recruiter Joe Cox and position coach Holmon Wiggins led the charge in the program’s pursuit of Jefferson.
The Crimson Tide made a strong impression not only on Jefferson, but his parents — Justine and Mario — as well. Bama made it clear to Jefferson and his family that he was not a want but a need for the program in this cycle. His father had nothing but high praise for Alabama following their official visit from June 9-11.

“Our interest level is pretty high, from a family perspective,” Mr. Jefferson told BOL after the visit. “We’re really impressed with how Alabama has gone about recruiting him. The attention to us as a family. It’s a university that’s pretty close to our house. It’s not the main thing, but it’s a part of the decision.
“I mean, it’s Alabama,” Mr. Jefferson continued. “They win. They’ve done a good job of developing receivers. We can potentially see him playing at Alabama and thriving. And ultimately playing for Coach Saban.”
As for Jefferson himself, he echoed some of those same sentiments during his conversation with BOL after the cook-out last weekend.
“Just my connection with the staff,” Jefferson said of Alabama. “Every time I go down there, it feels like home. It feels like a family. Just the way the program is built, it’s a winning culture. Also, the way Coach Saban develops receivers.”
In his 2022 season, Jefferson averaged 19 yards per catch on 72 receptions for a total of 1,370 receiving yards. He also hit pay dirt 17 times last year, meaning he scored 24 percent of the time that he caught the ball. Jefferson joins Rico Scott (2024), and Jaime Ffrench and Ryan Williams (2025) as Alabama’s current wide receiver commitments.
