Photos, video: Alabama heads to Beverly Hills for Lawry's Beef Bowl
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – The Alabama football team piled into several buses and traveled to Lawry’s The Prime Rib on Friday evening for the 67th annual Lawry’s Beef Bowl.
During the Rose Bowl event, placekicker Will Reichard orchestrated the salad spin, defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis made the first cut – both of which were served to head coach Nick Saban – and offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin was presented the scholar-athlete award.
“It’s a tremendous blessing,” said McLaughlin, who revealed he recently got into the master’s of marketing program at Alabama. “A lot of hard work I’ve put into academics, and it’s really cool to be recognized for that as a student-athlete.”
The players were all served salad, prime rib, mashed potatoes, gravy and corn before apple pie and ice cream. The Friday team meal was one of several events for the Crimson Tide’s football squad. Earlier this week, Alabama went to Disneyland for the Rose Bowl welcome.

A call for punishment for brawls
“I think it’s fun, especially just being here with our teammates and being able to do some different events as a group,” Reichard said. “I think it’s a lot of fun to kind of take away from football but also continue to get to know each other off the field. It’s not always about football, it’s about bonding and stuff away from football, as well.”
The Crimson Tide and Michigan will face off on Monday, Jan. 1, at 2 p.m. PT on ESPN.
