Jermaine Burton recaps win over UTC | Alabama Football

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 8 Alabama was not at full strength in its 66-10 win over Chattanooga on Saturday. Multiple players were either not in uniform or were limited in pregame warmups for the Crimson Tide’s home finale, including sophomore wide receiver Kobe Prentice

Prentice was dressed out but watched most of the receiver drills prior to the game.

“Kobe Prentice strained his hamstring in practice this week,” head coach Nick Saban said. “He probably could have played in the game, but you always risk re-injury in those things. Hopefully in the next few days, he’ll get his strength back up to where that’s not a risk.

“So that’s why he didn’t play today.”

Prentice entered the non-conference game as Alabama’s third-leading receiver with 16 catches for 282 yards and two touchdowns on the year. It sounds like he’ll be ready to go next week.

Another player who was dressed out for warmups but didn’t play was safety Jaylen Key (quad), who watched most of the defensive back drills. Honored as part of Senior Day, Key has missed the last two games due to injury and was in street clothes for the game, but an encouraging sign for his availability for the Tide’s Week 13 trip to Auburn is he’s at least warming up.

Three players who did not go through warmups were linebacker Deontae Lawson (ankle), wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks (shoulder) and defensive back Earl Little II. All three missed the game at Kentucky, and Little was seen with a sling on his right arm while in street clothes. The extent of his setback has yet to be revealed, but Little has now missed two contests.

Making his return to the field this week was wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who did not travel to Lexington because of an illness. The senior started his final home game and led Alabama with 105 receiving yards and a touchdown on just three receptions (35 yards per catch).

“I’m good,” Burton said after the game. “I had a bug, got over it. I was at the crib. I was watching the guys go crazy and handle business, as expected. They worked hard that entire practice week, and it was good to see it play out on film.”

The one UA player who suffered an injury in the Chattanooga game was linebacker Quandarrius Robinson, but Saban revealed after the win that the senior “just had a stinger” and “is fine.”

Alabama will close out the regular season at Auburn on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 2:30 p.m. CT (CBS).
