Alabama’s football team was dominant in all three phases of the game against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. The Tide scored six touchdowns on offense, one on defense, and two on special teams (punt return for a touchdown and a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown).

There was not a large number of prospects in attendance for Alabama’s 56-point win this weekend. BamaInsider did, however, catch up with a few visitors after the game, including a pair of Crimson Tide commitments.

New 2023 LB offer shares his thoughts on Saturday’s contest

Hours prior to kickoff on Saturday, the Crimson Tide coaching staff extended an offer to Memphis Tigers commitment Arion Carter. The Smyrna (Tenn.) product, who is listed at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, committed to Memphis on July 20.

Alabama extended an offer to Carter shortly after the 2023 prospect stepped foot on campus. Carter, a linebacker target for Nick Saban’s staff, shared his thoughts on what he saw from the team on Saturday.

“They took care of business as usual and played lights out!” Carter said. “I think [the linebackers] executed really well on stopping the run and did a good overall!”

BamaInsider Director of Recruiting Andrew Bone provided more information about Carter’s offer from the Tide on the Talk of Champions message board. Bone added intel on Carter’s visit, his reaction to the offer, why Alabama gave him the green light, and more.

Crimson Tide commitments enjoy first Alabama game day experience

A couple of Alabama commitments got to attend their first-ever regular season Alabama game on Saturday. JuCo wide receiver commit Malik Benson and offensive lineman pledge Olaus Alinen were both in Bryant-Denny Stadium for Bama’s win over the Warhawks.

Just under a couple of months ago, Alinen committed to the Tide over Miami and Ohio State. The No. 12 offensive tackle on the 2023 On3 Consensus had high praise for how his future team performed.

“The other team really had no chance from the kickoff,” Alinen said. “You could just tell it. Impressive game. O-line was looking good today! A lot of guys got in and the run game looked solid and the QBs had time to throw.”

Benson did not necessarily get to see much of Alabama’s wide receiver corps as the group had just 105 receiving yards on five catches against UL-Monroe. The top-ranked player in the JuCo ranks was just happy to finally attend his first game in Tuscaloosa.

“Expected win,” Benson said. “Glad to finally get to experience the atmosphere.”
