Richard Hendrix, a former Alabama standout on the hardwood (2005-08) who was an All-American and NBA Draft pick, is one of 14 former greats who have been selected for the 2024 Southeastern Conference Basketball Legends. 

Richard Hendrix, SEC Legend

  • Played at the University of Alabama for three seasons (2005-08) and was a standout performer on and off the court during his career
  • Selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 49th overall pick (second round) of the 2008 NBA Draft
  • In addition to his time in the NBA, he also played overseas, earning success along the way as he was named a starter in the 2009 NBDL All-Star game and the Spanish League Newcomer of the Year in 2009
  • Ranks fifth in the UA record books for career field goal percentage (62.9 percent), 13th in total rebounds (849) and 24th in career points (1,327)
  • Additionally, his 152 career blocked shots ranks 10th while his 2.0 blocks per game average is tied for ninth in school lore
  • Played in 95 career games across his three seasons at The Capstone, closing with career averages of 14.0 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 62.9 percent from the floor (186-of-309)
  • Averaged a double-double as a junior in 2008, with 17.8 points and an SEC-leading 10.1 rebounds a game on his way to First Team All-SEC honors
  • Earned Second Team All-SEC recognition in 2007 after averaging 14.6 points and 8.7 boards as a sophomore
  • His 23 rebounds vs. Troy on Nov. 9, 2007, still stand as the 10th-most in a game in school history
  • Graduated in May 2008 with a degree in communications, completing his degree in only three years
  • A three-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll
  • Currently works as a basketball analyst for SEC Network
