Ryan Williams named a semifinalist for Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year
Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams was selected as a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Award on Wednesday, the Maxwell Football Club announced Wednesday.
Williams is one of 14 semifinalists for the Alexander, which is presented annually to the most outstanding freshman player in college football. Finalists will be named on Dec. 4 with the 2024 winner of the Shaun Alexander Award being announced on Dec. 26.
Alabama has produced two Alexander Award winners, including Will Anderson Jr. (2020) and Caleb Downs (2023).

- Has blossomed into the Crimson Tide’s primary target at wideout and one of the nation’s top pass-catchers
- Leads Alabama in receiving yards (702), catches (35) and touchdowns (7) through eight games
- Also contributed one rush for a two-yard score to go with four punt returns and a pair of kickoff returns
- Paces all Division I freshmen in receiving yards while ranking third in the SEC and 17th nationally in that category
- Tied for the conference lead and 12th nationally in receiving touchdowns
- Averaging 20.1 yards per catch, good for fifth in the league and 11th in the FBS
