SOCIAL MEDIA SLANT: Reactions to five-star DB Desmond Ricks' commitment to Alabama
On Thursday, Desmond Ricks became the latest five-star prospect to become a member of Alabama’s 2023 class.
During the second day of the Early Signing Period, Ricks committed to the Crimson Tide over Florida and LSU. He is the fifth five-star recruit in the 2023 cycle to join forces with Bama over the past two weeks, with the others being James Smith, Kadyn Proctor, Keon Keeley, and Qua Russaw.

Ricks was somewhat of a surprise addition to this class. Earlier this week, multiple predictions were submitted in favor of the LSU Tigers, who had been trending for him since early November. In the end, however, Bama’s competitive culture and the opportunity to be coached by Nick Saban drew Ricks to Tuscaloosa.

Over the past few weeks, there are two members of Alabama’s 2023 class who have consistently taken to Twitter after every commitment that Bama has earned: Richard Young and Ty Lockwood.
Not surprisingly, the top-five running back and four-star tight end shared their reactions immediately after Ricks’ decision.
The Crimson Tide’s newest 2023 signee had a simple two-emoji tweet once his signing was officially announced.
