The Alabama Crimson Tide have now added a second prospect to their 2024 class.

On Tuesday, Nate Oats‘ program received a commitment from Southern California Academy’s Naas Cunningham. Cunningham, who is originally from West Orange (N.J.), committed to Bama over an offer sheet that included Memphis, Rutgers, West Virginia, and others.

Coach’s Take: Alabama is getting a “super, super skilled” player in new commit (On3+)

Cunningham’s decision to team up with the Tide comes after an official visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend. He joins five-star big man Aiden Sherrell as the sole commitments in Alabama’s 2024 class at this juncture.

Per On3’s 2024 Industry Rankings, Cunningham is the No. 44 overall prospect in this recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-7, 180-pounder also checks in as the No. 15 small forward and the seventh-ranked player in California. Below is an in-depth breakdown of what Cunningham brings to the table.

“Naas Cunningham is a long, rangy, and athletic wing prospect,” Cunningham’s On3 Scouting Report reads. “Offensively, Cunningham is adept at shot-making, extending out to three, off the catch. He will need to continue putting on weight and getting stronger. He is an explosive athlete, which he shows in transition. His length, positional size, and quick-twitch athleticism give the belief he can become a good team defender in time.

Would like to see him attack the basket more, his tendency to settle for jump shots render him inefficient and ineffective at times, but he does have the ability to create space and knock down shots. While the tools are obvious, he disappears for long stretches, often. His flashes will need to start turning into consistency and production, but his flashes can be impressive, and his upside is high.

Over the weekend, Alabama hosted top-100 point guard Travis Perry for an official visit as well. He just included Bama in his top five, and will announce his decision on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Central.
