Traeshon Holden now second Alabama WR to enter transfer portal
Wednesday has been an eventful day for Alabama players entering the transfer portal. First, it was wide receiver Christian Leary. Then, offensive lineman Tanner Bowles made his announcement. Now, another pass-catcher is joining those two, as junior Traeshon Holden has revealed his intentions to enter.
Holden made that announcement himself via Twitter.
“To the Alabama Family, I would like to thank coach Saban and the entire Alabama coaching staff for everything that you have done for me while I was a student-athlete here,” Holden said. “Having said that, I would to announce that I will be entering the transfer portal effective immediately.”

Holden is the most impactful name from Alabama to hit the portal so far. He did play in five games as a true freshman back in 2020, but from there, things really started to click for him. As a sophomore in 2020, he saw time in all 15 games while bringing 21 catches for 239 yards and a touchdown.
With the departures of Jameson Williams, John Metchie and Slade Bolden, Holden finally got a starting role to start this year.

He started off hot, too, as he had 15 catches for 214 yards and four touchdowns over the first month of the season. Things slowed down for him after that, but he’s still added 10 more catches for 117 yards and two more touchdowns. That now brings his season total to 25 receptions, 331 yards (13.2-yard average) and six scores.
Surprisingly, Holden was tied for having the most touchdown catches this season (6) until the Iron Bowl this past Saturday. Ja’Corey Brooks brought in his seventh of the year, breaking that tie with Holden and fellow wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who’s come on strong in recent weeks.
Holden played high school football at Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 193 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
