WATCH: 5-star commit Ty Haywood talks fulfilling childhood dream, Alabama's OL class
Alabama has assembled what most would believe to be the top offensive line class in the country right now.
They hold five commitments from the three different positions along the o-line: Mal Waldrep (center), Micah DeBose (guard), Michael Carroll (guard), Jackson Lloyd (tackle), and Ty Haywood (tackle). Haywood is the highest-ranked member of that group (and Bama’s entire class), and joined forces with the Tide on July 14.
Haywood plays for Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, but was born in Mississippi. He’s a lifelong Alabama fan, with one side of a wall in his room dedicated specifically to Bama gear. And while his May 31 – June 2 official visit was his only trip to the school, it checked off all the boxes.
“I would say just me walking into the facilities, it was like walking into a dream,” Haywood told BOL when reflecting on his visit. “You’ve never been there before but once you finally step into the place, it’s amazing. The people, all of that. The thing with my mom… basically, we were taking pictures and she saw me. She finally realized why it was my dream school. We had a little moment. That’s another thing that sold me [on Bama], too – My mom.”
At the next level, Haywood will be blocking for a pair of four-star running backs in Akylin Dear and Anthony Rogers, and Keelon Russell, the No. 3 quarterback in the Class of 2025.

WATCH: 5-star Bama QB pledge talks 2025 class, future of the Tide
He’s looking forward to teaming up alongside his future teammates in the o-line group as well.
“I feel like we’re the top offensive line [class],” Haywood said. “They’ve got me, obviously. They’ve got [Mal] Waldrep, [Micah] DeBose, and some more good players. All good players. All of us together, we can make a great o-line. ‘Ice Wall’ is what they call it.”
Alabama is off to a 2-0 start in the Kalen DeBoer era, and checks in with the No. 2 recruiting class in the country. There is a lot of optimism as it pertains to the future of the program, with Haywood sharing his thoughts on Bama going forward.
“I say the future still holds great news for Bama. The Tide is still rolling right now,” Haywood said. “They shut out Western Kentucky 63-0. Hopefully, we can keep that going. O-line is looking good. Everybody is looking good so far. Right now, we’re doing a pretty good job.”
