Watch: Kalen DeBoer, Alabama captains speak at Walk of Fame ceremony

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer and team captains from last year’s Crimson Tide squad spoke to a large crowd of fans at Denny Chimes on Saturday as part of the school’s Walk of Fame ceremony, which honors all of UA’s permanent captains.
Tyler Booker, Deontae Lawson, Malachi Moore and Jalen Milroe joined DeBoer in the shadow of Denny Chimes before the quartet had their cleat and hand prints immortalized on the Quad of Alabama’s campus. For Moore and Milroe, it marks their second consecutive year at the Walk of Fame. Lawson, a redshirt senior, has a shot at two-time captain this fall.
“This is a special moment right here on a special day,” DeBoer said. “To put these guys and the legacy that they’re leaving – I guess we’ve got Deontae back, right, for another year. We’re excited about that. But the legacy that these guys are continuing to leave – let’s put it that way – and what they’ve done here and what they will continue to do representing us, not just in football in the future but also life beyond football. Because success is gonna follow these guys, I can promise you, wherever they go.
“But these guys, they’re special people. These four right here are about as special as it can be personally to me. Your captains are always important, but coming here and just everything from start to finish, the way they embraced me and our staff, the way they continued to uphold the standard in everything that they did with Alabama football. They knew what it was supposed to look like.”

DeBoer continued, “They led by example first and foremost. They took care of their business, but they were servant leaders, too. And that, to me, is what it’s all about when you’re a captain is being that servant, being that person that has humility, to always want to continue to grow, but always people that are around you first in your life.
“And so these guys do a wonderful job representing our program. They take care of business in the classroom with their degrees. Their GPAs are off the charts. You see them as football players, but I see them also as so much more. And I hope today you hear from a minute or two from them, and you have over their careers, what they truly stand for. It’s men of integrity, men of class and obviously a lot of success in leading our program.”
The event took place two hours before Alabama’s 2025 A-Day, which will be held at noon CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium. This year, however, it will be a public practice rather than a game.
